If you have a general concept of how the body works, then this book should be an ok read for you. There are some more complicated sections where the author goes into great detail about the various bodily functions and it can get confusing. He does try to give you a glossary type reference on these pages though which is both helpful and clever. For this complicated subject matter, I think he does a pretty good job at making it understandable for the average person. There is some repetition throughout the book where I felt like he was making the same point over and over again. Overall, I think reading it added value to my overall understanding of these four epidemics. Be prepared though to read it in small portions in order to best digest the information.
Was hoping it would have some recipes- it doesn't. But it DOES have great lists on what the child CAN eat, (very short list) and what the child CANNOT eat. Very, Very, Very long list, of everything she's BEEN eating- ckn nuggets, mac and cheese, yogurt... Wish i'd known about this before she LOVED those exact foods, or rather before I let her get hooked on these toxins!! Very important read.
As a mother and wife whose children and spouse are challenged with ADHD, and as a therapeutic massage therapist and body worker, I highly recommend this book to everyone! This has been an insightful and refreshing read! Thank you, Dr. Joe, for looking beyond the symptoms to the big picture!
