So I bought this for my 8 year old, but my 11 year old loves it. It was a little slow for the 8 year old. The 11 year old says it is quite the roller coaster ride and has as many lows as it does highs. She still recommends it though!!!!
My 9-year-old could not but this book down. She is looking forward to a second book.

For two girls in a coastal town, surfing and swimming are second nature. Ghosts and mysteries? That's a different story. When Samantha discovers the local landmark Danger Point is populated by ghosts, it's up to her and her friend Jade to put a stop to the construction about to take place. To convince those around them, they need to uncover the secrets of the past with the help of some new paranormal pals and some mustachioed disguises. This sweet summer story has a few laughs to get readers giggling with plenty of clues and drama fit for a mystery.Several elements of Dwinell's graphic novel make this a strong choice for younger readers with messages of determination, responsibility, and love. Most notably, the characters are wonderfully supportive of each other, demonstrating healthy relationships between both family and friends. The story itself allows readers to almost take part in the investigation by including newspaper clippings and journal entries for a more engaging environment. With the accompanying illustrations of a gentle coastal town emanating from each page, this book will draw in those looking for a literal and figurative "beach read."There are many storylines at play within a short span of time, both within the world of Danger Point and the physical page count of Dwinell's book. This makes the narrative seem slightly jumpy and all-too coincidental by the end. While this style of storytelling is traditional for books geared towards early elementary students, it seems out of place here.Overall, this graphic novel could be something to tide over younger fans of Telgemeier's books.
