James Hayes is a founder of the Structured Cabling Association and President of The Fiber Optic Association, the professional society for fiber optics. He is also a partner in VDV Works, a company that provides technical support to the voice-data-video industry. Originally educated as a physicist and astronomer at Vanderbilt University and The University of California at Santa Cruz, Mr. Hayes has been involved with the electronics and test instrumentation industry since 1968. Save your money. Outdated and useless. It doesn't help anyone. Read it from cover to cover and found that none of it applied to anything going on in todays world. Waste of my money and my time. Still looking for something that speaks to the needs of todays world with the products that are available to the homeowner in today's market and that explains from step one (the very basics of that product) to completion and adaptability.This isn't it.

Bought for class. Item as described.5 stars isn't about the content, but about the book arriving when it was supposed to and being the one pictured/undamaged.Didn't end up reading much of it. 1 star for content. very very dull. And old.
